The number of Ukrainian language lessons in Transcarpathian national minorities schools will be increased

The number of Ukrainian language lessons in the schools for national minorities will be increased. This is the initiative are the Ministry of Education of Ukraine, the mukachevo.net reports.

This was stated by the Minister of Education and Science Lilia Hrynevych at the meeting with leaders of civil society organizations.

"At schools for national minorities, children, who have received secondary education, sometimes do not speak Ukrainian. This means that they will likely leave the country to continue their education abroad. So, we need to increase the share of Ukrainian lessons in schools for minorities in order to give them equal with the rest of Ukrainian citizens chances to enter Ukrainian universities," – Hrynevych.

By the way, representatives of national minorities insisted that the seventh article of the law "On education" narrows their rights guaranteed by the Constitution of Ukraine.

"I see no narrowing of minority rights", – Hrynevych said at the meeting.
