The memorial plaque to leading figures of Transcarpathian painting school was opened in Uzhgorod

On Friday, April 20, the artistic community celebrated two events at once – the opening of the memorial plaque to Adalbert Erdeli and Yosup Bokshay and the opening of the painting exhibition of Ukrainian artist Ernest Kontratovych, – informs the press center of RSA.

The young Transcarpathian sculpture Vasul Biley is the author of the memorial plaque idea. Its production was made possible thanks to the help of the Union of Artists of Ukraine leadership. The memorial plaque was cast from metal in the Ukraine’s capital.

The honor of the plaque opening was performed by the head of the region Alexandr Ladyda, the Mayor of Uzhgorod Viktor Pogorelov, the deputy head of regional council Andriy Serbailo and the head of Transcarpathian Artists Union of Ukraine Boris Kuzma.

– This is a great event, because Adalbert Erdeli and Yosyp Bokshay were standing at the origins of the Trascarpathian painting school. Such artists deserve the eternal homage – said the head of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine Volodymyr Tchepelyk – Transcarpathia has always been rich in talent. We are trying to fully support the local artists’ initiatives.

Immediately after the end of the celebration guests visited the opening of the painting exhibition of Ernest Kontratovych. The event is dedicated to century since the birth of the Transcarpathian artist. The unique exhibition includes works from the regional art museum archives and private collection.
