Uzhgorod mayor, as it turns out, holds the whole city on the palm of his hand. Literally: the signal from CCTV cameras located at key points of Uzhgorod is transmitted to his phone.
In the office of the mayor, a special monitor displays images from about thirty cameras of the city network. In general, the mayor says, about four hundred cameras are fitted in different facilities: restaurants, bars and shops. Without them neither the police nor city services give permits for operation; entrepreneurs install them at their own expense.
Meanwhile, in turns out, the city authorities have not forgotten about the idea to equip terminal bus stops with CCTV systems – they promised to do that, while raising bus fares. "We are working on it. I had people from Lutsk, they presented the program that is used there. And we will hold a tender for installation of CCTV at bus stops. People will be able to watch this, and carriers – to monitor how many people get in a bus… I saw that it is necessary for the city", – Victor Pogorelov said.
