The man, who attacked a currency exchange office, has been notified of being suspected of committing a criminal offense

Under the procedural control of the Uzhgorod local prosecutor’s office, law enforcement officers promptly solved the robbery, committed yesterday in one of the currency exchange offices in the regional center.

An unemployed thirty-year-old resident of Perechyn district without criminal record is reasonably suspected of this crime.

According to the deputy head of the Uzhgorod local prosecutor’s office Viktor Kuzan, the man attacked the cashier of the exchange office and, threatening with firearms, demanded to give him cash.

The cashier pressed the alarm button and tried to buy time until the arrival of the police. Thus, fearing a possible arrest, the attacker fled from the crime scene without money. The incident was recorded by the CCTV camera.

The attacker has already been notified of being suspected of committing a criminal offense under Part 1, Article 187 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (robbery), which is punishable by imprisonment for a term of three to seven years.

The choice of a pre-trial restraint against the suspect is currently being decided.

Further pre-trial investigation is being carried out by investigators of the Uzhgorod police department.
