The judge of Uzhgorod city and district court in Transcarpathian region Mykhailo Rotmistrenko, declared in the income statements for the last two years that he does not use any car. However, over the past 4 months, the judge has been twice stopped by the police for drunk driving.
On August 17, 2016, Mykhailo Rotmistrenko was stopped driving a BMW X5 in Mukachevo (Transcarpathian region). Then the alcohol content in his blood was 2.24 ppm, which is 11 times higher than normal. The case was referred to Uzhgorod City and District Court, where Rotmistrenko works.
The case was heard by Nosov VV, who repeatedly adjourned the hearings due to the absence of the defendant or his representative. This allowed Nosov in the end of November to admit that his colleague Rotmistrenko was drunk, but dismiss the case as time-barred.
Three days after the entry into force of this Resolution, on December 9, 2016, patrol police stopped Uzhgorod judge Rotmistrenko again with signs of intoxication driving a BMW X5. The pursuit lasted an hour and a half, the judge was caught in the middle of the field. He admitted that he had had "50 grams", but stated that he had fallen asleep at home and did not remember how he ended up in the car.
In the statement of income for 2014 and 2015, Rotmisterenko declared that he did not own or use any car.
Mykhailo Rotmistrenko’s uncle – Andriy Stryzhak – is a former (2007-2010) President of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine.
