A group of Ukrainian smugglers crossed the "green border" with Hungary at night, but the attempt to smuggle cigarettes was unsuccessful – they were noticed by the border guards.
The Hungarian border guards using a thermal imager detected a group of 10 people carrying boxes to one of the farms near the border. However, seeing the border guards, the unknown men left their cargo and ran back to Ukraine. None of them was detained.
A total of 11,500 packs of smuggled cigarettes worth 11 million forints were confiscated. The customs officers opened a criminal case against the unknown offenders.
