The head of the National Bank asked Ukrainians to be “patient and supportive”

The situation in Ukraine’s economy will change, but now we should be patient because it is impossible to correct errors of previous years neither in two nor in six months.

This was stated by the Head of the National Bank of Ukraine Stepan Kubiv who addressed citizens picketing the building of the National Bank, the "UNIAN" reported.

"We will change the country step by step. But for now I’m asking you to be patient and supportive. it is impossible to correct errors of previous years neither in two nor in six months," – he told the participants of the meeting who were demanding immediate stabilization of the economic situation in the country and expressed their intention in a week to hold protests in all regions of Ukraine.

"I ask you to give us a chance to work. Today is our third meeting. I am open to you, but I have to work," – Kubiv said and urged citizens to believe and help him. 

Recall that the political situation in Ukraine has a negative effect on the banking system. The total deposits in national currency in February fell by 5.1% – to 392 billion hryvnias, in foreign currency (dollar) – by 5.8%, to 28.5 billion dollars.

At the same time, devaluation of the national currency continues: as of April 9, the price of the U.S. dollar on the interbank market in Ukraine has reached 12.45 UAH / USD.
