The festival of butchers invites to get acquainted with the ancient tradition of meat cooking (PROGRAM)

This Saturday, one of the most delicious festivals of the region – international competition of professional butchers – will take place in Transcarpathia.

  Henteshes (how butchers are called in Hungarian) will gather in the village of Hecha in Beregovo district on February 11 and invite everybody to take part in cooking and consumption of dishes made of pork.

  Butchers from Transcarpathian villages and from abroad will start demonstrating their skills in the morning – the gathering is at 7 o’clock. Meanwhile, guests will be treated to hot wine, vodka and snack.

After meat processing, teams will be cooking dozens of tasty delicious dishes on an open fire. Cooks will be making Transcarpathian traditional dishes of pork and compete for the the title of the best one.

Winners will be determined in the categories: "Best hurka", "Best cabbage with meat", "Best sausage."     

At noon, the concert program will begin on the festival stage with the participation of original creative teams from all over the region. The official opening is at 13:00
