The festival “My native land” has begun in Uzhgorod

On Thursday, September 11, there was the official opening of the XVIth International festival of broadcasting for national minorities "My native land".The opening ceremony was attended by the First Deputy Head of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Andriy Serbaylo, the Head of the State Committee for Television and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine Oleg Nalyvayko.    
According to the organizers, the main aim of the festival "My native land" is to show the life of national minorities, the diversity of their cultures, life, revival and enrichment of the spiritual heritage and traditions.
This year, participants from Ukraine, Romania, Slovakia, Hungary, Montenegro, Serbia, Austria and Sweden take part in the festival. The competition features over 60 TV and 30 radio programs. 

 – The events, that occur in eastern Ukraine, make adjustments in our lives. But when the question of holding the festival arised, all agreed on one thought – the event must be held. Presenting their work at the festival, each participating country shows how one should love their country, their people, their traditions. The role of media in shaping of public opinion, including the opinion about one’s country, is crucial – Andriy Serbaylo said.

During the festival, besides screening if the contest entries, there will also be workshops on directing, cinematography, etc. "My native land" will run until September 13.
