In the halls of Uzhgorod Castle, the exhibition on the occasion of the 130th anniversary of the famous in Transcarpathia naturalist and ornithologist, and the first head of the Transcarpathian Regional Museum of Nature Oleksandr Hrabar opened.
"Oleksandr Hrabar – lover and expert of Transcarpathian nature" is the title of the exhibition organized by the Transcarpathian Regional Museum of Nature.
This exhibition consists of two parts: documentary, which displays pictures and his works, which comprehensively cover the life of Hrabar. Also in memory of him as a painter, the paintings from the museum and private collections are exhibited – it is the second part of the exhibition where you can see his oil, watercolor and other works.
Oleksandr Hrabar loved birds of prey, and began to paint them on canvas in 1940’s. Therefore, in the hall you can see the pictures of birds.
Granddaughter of Oleksandr Hrabar Clara Vavra, who is almost 80, says that her Grandpa was a very religious man. She also recalls how once, when talking to him about school, she boasted that she was an excellent student. "I still remember what he replied: "Only mediocre people are excellent students. A talented person can not cover everything, they are interested in something specific and evolve in this direction."Therefore, after that conversation, I stopped to pay so much attention to my grades."
Recall that today (August 17) is the 130th anniversary of the birth of Oleksandr Hrabar. In addition to the exhibition (which runs through Oct. 15), yesterday, August 16, on Luchkay street, where O.Hrabar lived and worked in 1927 – 1959, a memorial plaque was officially opened in memory of him.
