The court pronounced a verdict in the fatal accident in Uzhgorod

The court pronounced a verdict against the foreigner who, in autumn last year, violating the traffic rules, hit and killed a minor girl. Fearing responsibility for it, the citizen of Israel fled from the scene of the accident, leaving the girl in danger.

In the course of the trial, the defendant pled guilty, sincerely repented and voluntarily compensated the family of the deceased girl for material and non-pecuniary damage.

The court, having analyzed the evidence in the case, after hearing the testimonies of the witnesses and having taken into account the confession of the defendant, pronounced him guilty and sentenced him to five years of imprisonment.

At the same time, the court took into account the sincere repentance of the defendant, the full reparation of the damage and the position of the prosecutor and the parents of the deceased regarding the punishment not involving imprisonment.

In addition, the court took into account that the 22-year-old accused has two young children and a pregnant wife.

Taking into account the above, the court imposed the final sentence in the form of five years of imprisonment, exempting him from serving a sentence provided he does not commit a new offense during the three-year probationary period. Also, the accused was deprived of the right to drive vehicles for three years and was obliged to reimburse legal costs.
