The Consul General of the Republic of Poland in Lviv Wieslaw Mazur came to Transcarpathia on a working familiarization visit. During the visit, he held meetings and business negotiations with top leaders of the region – the head of the RSA Hennadiy Moskal and the Regional Council Chairman Mykhailo Rivis.
During the meeting with Mykhailo Rivis, they discussed the intensification of cooperation between Polish provinces and districts of Transcarpathian region.
Wieslaw Mazur informed the Chairman of the Regional Council Mykhailo Rivis about the purpose of his visit, about plans of the consulate and his sincere intentions to do everything in order to strengthen interregional partnership and good neighborliness with Transcarpathia. He sadly remembered recent events in Sevastopol, where he headed the Consulate General of Poland. After its liquidation in August 2014 due to the annexation of the Crimea, he had to move to Odesa, which he liked for its uniqueness.
Mykhailo Rivis first of all thanked the Polish state and its people for the sincere support of Ukraine in conditions of severe war and the prospects for European integration. Then he briefly spoke about the uniqueness of Transcarpathia, which borders with four countries – EU members, the activities of the Regional Council, where the priorities are the issues of social protection, the development of medicine, education, culture, science, tourism, sports, establishment of interregional relations and – on this basis – attraction of additional resources to the social development of communities and investment in the development of our mountain region.
When speaking about cooperation with the regions of Poland, he said:
– Poland is a champion of Ukraine in Europe. In Brussels, we met with Polish representatives and thanked them for their understanding, warmth, kindness and willingness to help us in this difficult time. It is not only a vivid evidence of good neighborliness, but also a consolidation of the common intentions to cooperate in the new format for the sake of our communities and peace in our countries – Mykhailo Rivis stated.
At the end of the meeting, the participants exchanged warm wishes of good health and success.
