The center for special people should be opened in Uzhgorod

700 active athletes with impaired vusculoskeletal system are currently members of the Transcarpathian regional branch of the Ukrainian Federation of Sports for Disabled with Lesions of the Musculoskeletal System. The NGO is headed by Oleksandr Lyzanets. Being disabled himself, he graduated UzhNU, receiving a historian degree, works as a researcher in the Museum of Architecture, is a candidate for master of sports in table tennis, four-time medalist of the championship of Ukraine, the Novyny Zakarpattya inform.

Many problems of such people, according to the activist, can be solved by the establishment of sports and rehabilitation center for disabled. In Uzhgorod alone, there are almost 6,000 such persons, and only 60 of them are involved in this activity. The establishment of a sports rehabilitation center will help to attract additional 160 people. Of those, 40 will be engaged in volleyball, 40 – basketball, 60 – table tennis, 10 – weightlifting, 10 – fencing.

Despite a blank wall of ignorance and indifference, Mr. Lyzanets has not abandoned the idea of opening a rehabilitation center for athletes with disabilities. He has even found an appropriate space in the regional center for this – the former boiler house at F.Tykhy street, 13b, which is a real wreck today. Its area is over 1,600 square meters, and under the Olympic and Paralympic standards it is suitable for sports. The project is already developed.

Since they do not have hope for help from the state, they decided to apply for a grant to the embassies of Japan and Switzerland. And they set a condition that the organization must have some room for reconstruction into a gym and 20% of the required amount for the project. The said project will cost five million hryvnias. They already have 20 percent of this amount.

According to the head of the Transcarpathian regional branch of the Ukrainian Federation of Sports for Disabled with Lesions of the Musculoskeletal System, now all hope is for the Acting Mayor of Uzhgorod and the city council members. Oleksandr Lyzanets sincerely hopes for a positive solution to this problem.
