On Tuesday, November 5, in the regional museum of folk architecture, there was a briefing dedicated to the celebration of the 100th anniversary of Transcarpathian sculptor, engraver, public figure, People’s Artist of Ukraine Vasyl Svyda.
It was attended by the Head of the Regional State Administration Department of Culture Yuri Hleba, the Director of the Regional Museum of Folk Architecture and Life Gabriella Andyal, the head of the regional branch of the National Union of Folk Art Masters of Ukraine Lyudmila Hubal and the artist’s son Yaroslav Svyda.
On the occasion of the anniversary, this year they have already published an illustrated calendar for 2013-2014 with reproductions of works by the author. Also in the village of Patskanovo in Uzhgorod district, they set a memorial plaque on the house where Vasyl Svyda lived and worked. It is also planned to publish the magazine with works of the artist.
On this day, in the Regional Museum of Folk Architecture and Life, to celebrate the anniversary of the Transcarpathian sculptor, an exhibition of arts and crafts by leading Transcarpathian artists was opened.
Answering journalists’ questions, Yuri Hleba told how cultures of national minorities living on the territory of Transcarpathia are developing:
– The support of the development of minority cultures for us is an issue of primary importance. Because Transcarpathia is a multicultural region, which is inhabited by more than 130 minorities. Today, we actively cooperate with all national minorities in the region, but especially – with Hungarian, Czech, Romanian and Slovak national societies. We encourage children so that they become involved in a variety of clubs, national folklore and ethnographic groups established in educational and cultural institutions of the the region, – the head of the department said.
