Today, May 9, the first senior officials of the region – the head of the Regional State Administration Vasyl Hubal and the chairman of the regional council Volodymyr Chubirko took part in the ceremony of laying flowers to the Monument "From Ukraine to liberators" on the Ukrainian-Slovak border. The regional center officials, representatives of regional institutions and organizations, veterans and youth also came to honor the fallen in the war.
Then they came to the monument "To volunteers of Transcarpathia – participants of the Second World War" on Cyril and Methodius Square, where they also laid flowers at the foot of the monument, and took part in a rally-requiem on the Hill of Glory.
Gray-haired participants of World War II with large bouquets of flowers in their hands made the event even more touching with their presence.
2nd year students of Uzhgorod College of Culture and Arts Natalia Sentymrey, Arthur Talabira and Tetyana Lakatos presented a literary-musical composition "What do you want from us, war!"
After the speeches, a minute of silence for the fallen heroes was announced.
After the official part, a field kitchen was deployed for veterans, and there was a meeting of veterans, members of the Ukrainian resistance movement during the Second World War, current defenders with the leadership of the region.
