The 10th Honey Festival in Mukachevo: prices are the same, but buyers are fewer! (PHOTOS)

 This year’s 10th festival of honey in Mukachevo gathered about 50 Ukrainian honey makers. Honey cost almost as much as last year: 50 – 100 UAH per liter. One liter of honey balm was 120 hryvnias, and one liter of honey wine was sold for 50. The most popular kinds of honey were ones made of acacia and buckwheat. But compared to previous years, this year’s Festival is the poorest. "People are not buying" – beekeepers complained. "People have no money," – the organizers explained.

 "Every year people become poorer.If nothing changes, we will not be able to buy even bread, much less honey" – the Mukachevo Mayor Zoltan Lendyel shares his thoughts. Nevertheless, the mayor says that the honey festival will take place the next year: "Maybe it will be less, but enough to sell honey."

Mr. Ivan from the village of Znyatsevo in Mukachevo district brought to the festival 500 liters of honey, and has not sold even 100. "At previous festivals, 100 liters of honey were sold in a moment – the beekeeper says – and now I’m afraid that I will not sell even a hundred liters… very few people."

 Instead, sellers of cheese were glad because they sold almost everything they had. "Considering that today is the day of honey, the cheese sells very well," – Nataliya from Rakhiv said. One kilo of cheese at the festival in Mukachevo cost 60 UAH.
