Swan Lake. On the “Kirpichka” lake in Uzhgorod, a swan couple has brought out nestlings (PHOTOS, + OPEN LETTER)

We could have reported this news on May 18, when the expected joyous event happened – four chicks were hatched in the swan nest.

But, given that the nest is too close to the shore and anticipating the hype, we waited a little while before reporting this great news. By the way, we have known that the couple of swans has not only nested on the lake in the "Peremoha" park, but also expects offspring, since the beginning of the spring…

And now, the news is rapidly spreading, and we are also happy to say: there is a real Swan Lake in Uzhgorod.

By the way, biologist Oksana Stankevich-Volosyanchuk, one of the activists protecting the Peremoha Park ("Kirpichka"), informs: the event can be considered unique, since until now swans, according to observers of ornithologists, have not nested in Uzhgorod, and only stayed for a season. Now, it is hoped that the beautiful birds will settle on the lake permanently, which will make the "Kirpichka" more attractive and improve its chances for the future.
