Svyshcho about the roads: yes the funds are distributed and repairs are performed improperly

On Wednesday, May 22, the First Deputy Head of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Igor Svyshcho spoke to reporters at a briefing.

According to Igor Svyshcho, this year it is planned to allocate 65.5 million hryvnias from the state budget and 7.9 million from the regional budget for repairs and operational maintenance of the road network of state and local levels. Since the beginning of the year, nearly 28 million has been used. 63.9 million hryvnias of subventions from the state budget have been ​​allocated for roads and streets of communal level. This will allow to carry out repairs on 934 road objects that are in municipal ownership, on the balance of village, town and city councils.

According to first deputy head of the region, in order to improve the situation in the field of road infrastructure, a range of activities is necessary. Most of them are related to changes in the national legislation:

– We need to focus more funds on the regional level and not distribute them to districts, as is the case now. Due to calculation formula, whereby the amount of subventions to certain localities is determined now, we can not use available money effectively and in full.   In order to avoid such situations, the changes in legislation are necessary. The regional administration has appealed to the central authorities with the relevant request. Now we are waiting for their decision.

Special attention was paid to the quality of repair work on the roads of Transcarpathia:

– We know of cases where road repairs were carried out with flagrant violations of work process.   This is negligence. And road builders who are negligent to their duties, will bear the responsibility for it.
