Yesterday evening, the border guards of the "Dilove" department of the Mukachevo detachment, together with the operational staff of the Western Regional Directorate of the State Border Guard Service, prevented an attempt of cigarette smuggling.
When checking the available information about possible illegal activities at the border, the border guards saw a group of people who were running towards the border with packages on their shoulders. The offenders ignored the warning shots and lawful demands of the border guards to stop and ran away having left their cargo.
30 meters away from the border, the offenders left 12 packages with six thousand packs of cigarettes. The tobacco products were delivered to the border guard department and will be subsequently handed over to the SFS employees.
