Smugglers hid almost 500 packs of cigarettes under decorative lining (PHOTOS)

A 37-year-old Ukrainian tried to illegally carry contraband cigarettes across the border with Slovakia.

During the inspection of a car Nissan Note with Czech registration, which at midnight was leaving Ukraine via the checkpoint "Uzhgorod", the border guards noticed suspicious changes in its structural cavities.

So, it was decided to inspect the car in depth. During the joint border guard and customs inspection, they found in the car 490 packs of tobacco products. Contraband cigarettes were hidden in a specially made cache in structural cavities of the car.

To this end, a decorative lining of the bottom was dismantled, and instead of heat and noise insulation, they put there tobacco products worth almost 15 thousand hryvnia.

  As a result, the cigarettes hidden from the border customs control and the car Nissan Note were seized in accordance with the current legislation.

The total value of the confiscated items amounted to over 121 thousand hryvnias.
