Transcarpathian Academic Regional Puppet Theater "Bavka" in Uzhgorod began the implementation of the project "Rainbow Fairy Tale Beads. Presentation of Slovak folklore by means of puppet theater art". It is a grant project from the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation. Currently, it is known that nearly 500 thousand hryvnias will be provided for its implementation.
On Tuesday, in the theater, there was a presentation for journalists, which was moderated by the director of the theater Myroslav Petiy. The dramaturg of the theater and the project coordinator, Nina Malyshka, said that she was very happy that their project was the winner. They had planned for a long time to expand the repertoire of the theater with fairy tales of the national minorities living in Transcarpathia. And now the dream comes true. Moreover, our theater has established good cooperation with the Košice puppet theater in Slovakia (not so long ago, the Transcarpathian theater returned from the festival "Virvar", which took place in this town). So, the playwright of that theater Pavel Uger kindly provided his play based upon Slovak fairy tales, in particular, the popular "Valebuk and Valegrad".
And now they have announced the dates when when the project will be presented. First, they are going to do that in the villages and towns of the region densely populated by the Slovak minority. They will start on November 19 in Maly Berezny, then Antalovtsi, Serednye, Storozhnytsia, and will finish on November 23 in Uzhgorod, where the perfromance with puppets will begin on Tetralna Square and then continue on the stage.
The Consul of the Consulate General of the Slovak Republic in Uzhgorod Jana Dvorecka was very pleased and thanked the theater artists.
The director of the Department of Culture of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Oksana Babunych admitted that it was a great honor for her to represent the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation, which was established last year and is financing the projects together with the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine. As for Transcarpathia, various institutions submitted 11 projects to the UCF competitions, and 5 projects won the grants.
