What is Slobozhanschyna and Kharkiv in particular? Let’s try to hear the voice of art in order to understand how the region lives, how it managed to resist in 2014 and remain the eastern frontier.

The main exhibition – "SlobodaKult" – opens on May 15th:

On the one hand, the avant-garde, constructivism, word-centeredness, the poetics of industrialism, "utopia vs. reality", the myth of the "first capital", which some are proud of, while others feel embarrassed… Tradition that stretches from the powerful 20’s. In the main exhibition, all this is revealed from the avant-garde classics of the 1920s (Vasyl Yermilov, Boris Kosarev, photos and videos of the State Committee for Industry, etc.) to the famous Kharkiv school of photography of 1970s – 1990s (Boris Mikhailov, Yevgen Pavlov, Serhiy Bratkov, Igor Manko etc.). 

On the other hand, a specific landscape characterized by wide expanses, high sky, traces of the past. This aspect is revealed through the experience of the MOGRYTSYA – INTERNATIONAL LAND-ART SYMPOSIUM "Space of Border Land" in the village of Mogrytsya in Sumy region and presented with photo and video documentation of the best art works.
