Security in the city will cost tax payers 10 million

Today, at the session meeting, the deputies approved the Program "Safe City for 2019-2022". The program provides for installation of video surveillance cameras at critical facilities and the measures aimed at its development and modernization.

The aim is to ensure security of critical facilities by reducing threats of natural, technogenic, criminal, terrorist and other nature.

The purpose of the Program is to provide current information on the status of protected facilities to local self-government bodies, territorial bodies of executive power, internal affairs bodies, administrations. Also, the goal is to ensure information exchange between territorial bodies of executive power, internal affairs bodies and administration of the facilities, as well as operational headquarters during the performance of common tasks to ensure safety of citizens.

The system of video surveillance, as a mean to ensure public order, protection of urban infrastructure and traffic safety, involves the delivery of operational information and access to the archive of video files to Uzhgorod police department.

The total funding for the next 4 years is UAH 10 million, – the city council informed.

Recall that there have already been some attempts to arrange a video surveillance system in Uzhgorod that were not successful, to put it mildly. The system is currently not working.
