Searching for archival information of the pre-Soviet period of Transcarpathia is now easier – a guide has been compiled

The first archival guide compiled by archivists of the State Archives of Transcarpathian region is the work of several generations of specialists. In total, the work on the publication lasted 5 years.

About the presentation of the "Guide to the funds of the State Archives of Transcarpathian region. Volume 1. Funds of the pre-Soviet period", which took place today.
The book was released thanks to the implementation of the regional program to support local authors at the publishing house "Karpaty".
The director of the State Archives of Transcarpathian region, responsible for publishing the book, Mykhailo Misyuk, said that the first volume of the Guide included archive funds of institutions, organizations, enterprises of the periods when Transcarpathia was part of the Kingdom of Hungary, Austria-Hungary, Czechoslovakia and Hungary again, as well as personal funds and archival collections.
The advantage of this publication over the previously published ones – the Annotated Register of Fund Descriptions of 2009 and 2014 – is that the funds are listed thematically. The guide consists of sections, each of which presents the funds of institutions of one historical period of the present territory of Transcarpathia being a part of other neighboring states.
The publication is intended for a wide range of readers – scholars, historians, students.
