On Saturday night the central Myr square (Square of Piece) in Mukachevo was specially solemn and graceful. It was literally sparkling with exquisite girls’ dresses and boys’ formal suits. And all this parade of youth and beauty was watched by excited and touched parents and relatives.
This is how every year the city over the river Latoritsa sees off school leavers into independent life. Today, the European football championship has slightly shifted the academic calendar, but it has not spoilt the holiday.
Nearly 600 former eleventh-graders gathered downtown to listen to parting speeches and to dance the last school waltz. From now on it will forever be a farewell chord of carefree childhood and the beginning of a difficult path of the adult world for them.
An honorary citizen Victor Baloga as usual congratulated boys and girls with the special and significant event. His son Andriy, visiting the holiday, wished all school leavers good health, success, loyal friends, personal victories, realization of ideas, professional and creative plans. And then he handed each of them a small financial incentive and a greeting card on the occasion of finishing school.
The holiday will end tomorrow morning with the traditional meeting of the first adult dawn.
