Sad news: poet, folklorist and Prosvita member Vasyl Pipash-Kosivsky has passed away

Yesterday, known Transcarpathian poet, folklorist, public figure Vasyl Pipash-Kosivsky passed away at the age of 95.

Vasyl Pipash was born on December 17, 1922 in the village of Kosivska Polyana in Rakhiv district. He studied folklore, wrote poems, was published in many periodicals. The folk songs recorded by him were included in many collections and were published both in Ukraine and abroad. He was repeatedly persecuted by the regime for his literary work. At the beginning of Ukraine’s independence, Vasyl Pipash was one of the organizers of the revival of the Prosvita Society in Rakhiv.
