RSA Chairman promised to support a publishing project of newspaper “Stary Zamok”

The Chairman of the Transcarpathian Regional Administration Alekandr Ledida was awarded the first fruit of "Stary Zamok" newspaper’s project on publishing books by Transcarpathian authors – the trilogy by Dmytro Keshelya "Flight of the singing stone". The book by the Transcarpathian author has been published with the assistance of our fellow countryman Viktor Baloga.

The book was officially handed over by the author, Dmytro Keshelya, chief editor of "Stary Zamok" Larisa Podolyak and the chairman of the regional organization of the National Union of Writers of Ukraine Vasyl Gusti.

At the meeting it was mentioned that in Ukraine people are already speaking of the phenomenon of Transcarpathian books, just like they talked in the past about the masters of Transcarpathian art. Our region is the birthplace of 11 winners of the prestigious state award – Tarash Shevchenko Award. And this is great that in addition to the regional program supporting books by Transcarpathian authors from the regional budget, there are many private initiatives from patrons to help the talented works.

“Stary Zamok’s” Little Library is planning to publish a few more books this year. A very interesting story stands behind one of them. For many years, the publishing house "Grazhda" has had a manuscript of a novel by Ivan Dolgosh "Tisa has cried with blood" about the events of Carpathian Ukraine. And now, when they found the opportunity to publish the book, the writer’s family found the folder in his archives with the manuscript of the work, which no one has known about – the novel "Hutsul Republic". This was the first part of the dilogy about two iconic events in the history of Transcarpathia.

But the first found part – "Hutsul Republic" – is bigger than the second, so the dilogy will be very large. Alexander Ledida has promised to help financially, so that the book will see the light in the nearest future. So, the project, as the newspaper proclaimed, is becoming truly open and it is supported with real actions by a well-known philanthropist Viktor Baloga, and from now by the Chairman of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Oleksandr Ledida too.
