Rescuers of Transcarpathia call countrymen to observe basic safety on the water

According to the State Emergencies Service of Ukraine Office in Transcarpathian region, as of July 30 this year, rescuers have already recorded 17 deaths on the water, 3 of them were children. Last year, during the same period, the water claimed the lives of 25 Transcarpathians, 3 of them were minors. Overall, last year, 36 people became "victims" of Transcarpathian water.

Despite the measures taken by the State Emergencies Service office and public authorities to prevent specified emergencies, gross misconduct on the water has been recorded in Uzhgorod, Vynogradiv and Irshava districts, where the number of drowned persons is the greatest.

So, rescuers appeal to countrymen asking to follow basic safety requirements. They emphasize that most people die because of swimming in areas, not equipped for that, accidents often occur because of violation of the rules of conduct on the water.

         Also, be aware that the basic conditions of safety is strict adherence to rules of conduct while swimming and riding on boats; continuous monitoring of children in the water by adults – officers of the State Emergencies Service of Ukraine Office in Transcarpathian region stress.

         Recreation on the water is allowed only in designated and equipped places. Do not go into the water in a place unfamiliar to you. Avoid water with fast current. Do not go into the water while being drunk.

         Never swim alone, especially if you are not confident in your abilities; when basking on the "wild beach" in an unfamiliar place, do not dive from the shore, hills, trees.

         "Following these simple rules of behavior on water will ensure a joyful, pleasant, and most importantly – safe rest," – officers of the State Emergencies Service of Ukraine Office in Transcarpathian region say.
