Reciprocal move: Hungary is deporting a Ukrainian diplomat from Budapest

Hungary has decided to deport a Ukrainian consul in retaliation to the similar move by Kyiv. This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary Peter Szijjarto at a press conference.

According to him, he called the Ambassador of Ukraine in Budapest and told her that the consul had 72 hours to leave Hungary. "Ukraine continues to aggravate the conflict," – he said. Szijjarto believes that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine had no grounds to expel the Hungarian consul. In his opinion, the consul did not violate any laws, and hidden filming at the consulate was a violation of diplomatic rules.

Recall that today the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine notified the Ambassador of Hungary in Ukraine Erno Keskeny that the consul of Hungary in the city of Beregovo had been declared persona non grata. He was odered to leave the territory of Ukraine within 72 hours. The reason was the situation with the issuance of Hungarian passports to citizens of Ukraine on the territory of the Consulate of Hungary in Beregovo and a video of them pledging allegiance.
