“Questionable” list of contenders for the title of honorary citizen was announced in Uzhgorod

The admission of applications for the award of an honorary citizen of Uzhgorod and insignia of Uzhgorod City Council is completed. This, with reference to the municipality, was informed by Mukachevo.net. The City Council accepted applications from labor collectives and public organizations.

The title of honorary citizen of Uzhgorod will be awarded to residents who have made special contributions in various fields, who enjoy high reputation among all citizens.

So the following persons are contenders for the title of Honorary Citizen of Uzhgorod:

Gunter Metzger – Mayor of the sister city of Darmstadt.

Zadorozhna Hanna Fedorivna – Deputy of eight convocations of Uzhgorod City Council
 (1969-1987)

Nikolaychuk Vitaly Ivanovich – Sc.D., professor.

Galik Oleg Ivanovich – social and political activist.

Belen Mykhailo Oleksiyovich – academic sculptor.

Bilak Larysa Oleksiyivna – People’s Artist of Ukraine.

Horvath Tiberiy Oleksandrovich (Horvath Bela) – violinist.

Sheba Vasyl Stanislavovich – cultural figure.

Vovkanych Fedir Vasylyovich – social and political activist, philanthropist, member of several convocations of Uzhgorod City Council, Member of the Transcarpathian Regional Council (1998), awarded with numerous certificates and diplomas, member of the East-Ukrainian Business Academy, member of the executive committee of Uzhgorod City Council since 2010.

Szigeti Stepan Vasylyovich – Honored Worker of Culture of Ukraine.

Kindrat Oleksiy Oleksiyovich – member of the IV and the VI convocations of Uzhgorod City Council, Honored Builder of Ukraine

Most nominations are more than questionable in terms of "prestige among all citizens," analyzes Zakarpattya online . And the most astonishing is the nomination of Vitaliy Nikolaychuk – Temporary Acting Rector of UzhNU who prepared the ground for this post for TSU rector Fedir Vashchuk. Uzhgorod Mayor Victor Pogorelov and rector of TSU and Acting Rector of UzhNU Fedir Vashchuk are members of the Party of Regions. Besides Fedir Vashchuk is a deputy of Uzhgorod City Council.
