"Process. 60s" is the title of the solo exhibition of Transcarpathian artist, Honored Artist of Ukraine Ivan Ilko, which was recently inaugurated in the art center "Ilko Gallery" in Uzhgorod. It is the continuation of Taras Tabaka’a project "Process" and features the works of the artist painted in late 50s – early 60s. Most of them are exhibited for the first time.
The exhibition was opened by the artist’s son Mykhailo Ilko, who owns the gallery, and art historian Oksana Havrosh.
The artist said that he has a great support – wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, who were present at the opening. "When I look at my pictures here (houses, face), it seems like they were painted by somebody else… You know, I wasn’t painting for a year and half, because… it just wouldn’t come out of me. I can not paint with my left hand, and the right one would not obey. I even thought that God decided that I should quit. And then he changed his mind. And guess what?! I started painting again. The new works on display are the way to show that I still can do something" – the artist joked.
