Pre-holiday research: cheap hostels in Lviv, Kyiv and Kharkiv

Fashion for hostels gradually came to Ukraine. Every year more of them appear, people have new opportunities for cheap travel. On the eve of May holidays, when many Ukrainians want to visit other cities, analysts of the Slando researched offers for hostels across the country and reported how much a night in affordable apartments costs.

Prices for accommodation in Ukrainian hostels start from 35 UAH. For example, in Kyiv hostel near the Osokorky subway, for this amount they offer bed linen, a towel and a high speed internet Wi-Fi. There is an equipped kitchen with kitchenware and a private balcony for smokers. In Kharkiv they found a similar offer near the Radyanska subway. But such low prices are extremely few, the average cost per night is 80 UAH.

The largest number of hostels is concentrated in Western Ukraine, in Kyiv, Odesa and Kharkiv. The more low-cost apartments there are in the city, the cheaper they are and the greater range of services is included in the base price. Thus, the lowest prices are offered in Kyiv, Kharkiv and Lviv, where cheap rooming houses compete for customers. In these cities you can find a variety of offers for 50-80 UAH. But, for example, in Vinnytsya and Luhansk, where there is no competition, the cheapest price for one night is 100 UAH per one bed. So, in some cities it would be cheaper to rent an apartment, rather than pay for a bed in a hostel.

Spending holidays by the sea will cost at least 45 UAH for night per person. For this money in the village of Henhorka near Henichesk they offer accommodation 100 meters away from the sea.   In Odesa, the lowest price is 65 UAH per night, and on average hostels cost 90-110 UAH. Those who want to rest in the Crimea must be willing to pay 80 UAH per person for a hostel in the heart of the peninsula, or a minimum of 100 UAH in cities on the coast.

Travellers also should bear in mind that some hostels may reduce or raise prices depending on season and duration of stay. Thus, some of them during the May holidays may significantly raise the prices, so it is better to specify these details in advance.
