Employees of the Office for the Prevention of Narcotics Crimes of the Main Office of the National Police in Transcarpathian region, together with the Mukachevo police department, documented the sale of a narcotic drug – methamphetamine – during investigations. The suspect was detained, he is currently in custody.
In the course of a previously initiated criminal proceeding under Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (storage, manufacture and sale of drugs), police officers detained on Cyril and Methodius Square in Mukachevo a 37-year-old local resident who was selling a psychostimulant – methamphetamine – for 2 thousand hryvnias.
In the course of the investigation, Employees of the Office for the Prevention of Narcotics Crimes of the Main Office of the National Police in Transcarpathian region, together with the Mukachevo police officers found out that the man had been previously engaged in illicit drug dealings.
The previously convicted resident of Mukachevo, who was recorded during the commission of the crime, was arrested in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and put to a temporary detention center. The seized substance was sent to experts for examination.
The police are conducting an investigation over this incident under Part 2 of Art. 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation or forwarding for sale, as well as illegal sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues committed repeatedly or by prior conspiracy by a group of persons). The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for a term of six to ten years with the confiscation of property.
