Today, 19 February, the Mayor of Uzhgorod Victor Pogorelov by his order dismissed the chief doctor of the city perinatal center Andriy Chaban. The corresponding order came today, February 19.
The chief doctor believes that the Mayor’s order is illegal and is already preparing a lawsuit. Andriy Chaban said that 2 reprimands, which he had received before, now are also being challenged in court. There was not the third reprimand, so there is no reason to dismiss him.
Mr. Chaban says, that the deputy mayor of Uzhgorod Yuri Belyakov and the head of Health Department of the city council Miroslava Bretsko behind his back convened the meeting of doctors where they were told that they have a new acting chief doctor – Miroslav Sheketa.
Andriy Tarasovych noted that Uzhgorod city council had no right to appoint Miroslav Sheketa as acting chief doctor because he is on vacation.
Also Andriy Chaban said that they had illegally made a report that he allegedly would not provide his empoyment record book to the head of the health department Miroslava Bretsko. The chief medical officer explained that the document is currently in the prosecutor’s office, so he physically is not able to provide it. In addition, Mr. Chaban says, the head of the department has no right to orally demand the document from him. The health department of Uzhgorod City Council has not provided official documentation on the basis of which he has to show his empoyment record book.
