Persons, who do not have money to pay real property tax, can postpone the payment

But they need to contact the tax service and present the documents proving that currently they do not have money for that, but will have it in a month or two. The tax was introduced on January 1, this year. It is imposed on the owners of large premises – if an apartment is larger than one hundred twenty squares meters, and a house is larger than two hundred and fifty square meters. But many experts do not rule out that eventually the government will lower the bar for taxation. And ultimately even the owners of small apartments will be paying the tax.
As of January 1, Ukrainians will be paying tax for large apartments and houses

Ksenia Lyapina, MP, NUNS: "We are aware that it will not become a significant source of budget revenues. And since local budgets will have very serious problem, it is clear that local budgets will begin to look for the source of funding. This is the first. The second – the government will seek funding for local budgets."

Real property tax exists in most of Europe, people’s representatives add. But the income of Ukrainians can not be compared with that of the residents of the EU.

Expert: Investing in housing is not profitable

Anatoly Kinakh, MP, Party of Regions, "All these taxes should not destroy already low solvency of a large part of our society and must be socially fair."

It would be good to know: who will be paying, how much and when?

So far, nearly twenty eight million housing units are subject to the real property tax. By the first of July they will receive notifications with calculations and bank details from the tax service. The tax shall be payable within two months.
