Last night, as we reported the car of the Chairman of the Public Council at Uzhgorod city council Oleksandr Peresolyak – a lawyer and public figure – was burning.
According to the PR department of the Transcarpathian regional police, it was most likely indeed an arson.
They said: the incident is classified as attempted arson / completed attempted arson. (Art.184, Part 2).
The penalty for this offense is the same as for successful arson.
According to Peresolyak himself, the cars would have burnt to ashes, if visitors of the restaurant, which the car was parked nearby, had not immediately noticed the fire. As it is, only one side was scorched.
He says of the possible causes of the arson: "Apparently, deputies want to make money so much that they are ready to destroy everything on their way. At the session on January 5th, they plan to reformat the public council, particularly they do not like me. The last two issues, that we were vehemently opposing, were the land moratorium and the tender for carriage. We continue to do our activities as before."
