Pay phones have disappeared from the streets of the regional center – now only empty boxes or booths remind of them.

In particular, the empty booths are located on Poshtova Square, Liberty Avenue and Nezalezhnist embankment.

"Pay phones were dismantled because they are unprofitable" – the Deputy Director for Marketing and Sales of Transcarpathian branch of "Ukrtelecom" Alina Mishchenko said to uzhgorod.in. In her words, booths and boxes will also be dismantled soon.

At the same time, pay phones will remain in social institutions such as hospitals, railway stations and hotels.

Recently, they also closed the oldest in Uzhgorod call office on Nezalezhnist embankment.

Now, only one such office remained – on ​​Cyril and Methodius square where "Ukrtelecom" service center is situated.
