Yesterday, around 15:00, on Kyiv-Chop highway, between Uzhgorod and Mukachevo, a man asked a crew of patrol police for help. He said that he was returning from Khmelnytsky region by taxi. On the way, he fell asleep, and meanwhile the taxi driver stole from his purse money (about 15,000 rubles, 800 hryvnia, 30 dollars), a passport of a citizen of Ukraine, ID code, driver’s license and smartphone. The victim described the car and the taxi driver.
Patrol policemen immediately set off to look for the thief, who was found near the scene. According to Art. 34 of the Law of Ukraine "On the National Police," the patrol policemen checked the driver and the car, and found there the wallet and documents, although the driver would not recognize his guilt. After this discovery, the taxi driver showed the place where he had gotten rid of the mobile phone, which was then found by patrol officers.
The investigators, who arrived at the scene, seized the stolen items and the car was taken to the impound lot.
