On April 26-27, on the premises of the economic faculty of Uzhgorod National University a scientific conference of ophthalmologists from Transcarpathian, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Ternopil, Chernivtsi, Odessa and Kiev regions, called "Topical issues of ophthalmology”, was held – the press service of UzhNU informs.
The scientific and practical event included presentations on current topics, such as: "A comprehensive medical and pedagogical rehabilitation of children with visual impairments in Transcarpathian region," “Pleoptic treatment experience of amblyopia of various genesis”, "Clinics and surgical treatment of orbital dermoid cysts in children”, “Transient symptoms of "dry eye" in patients after cataract phacoemulsification", "Features of pathogenetic treatment of traumatic optic neuropathy”and others. The director of "V.P. Philatov Institute of Eye Diseases and Tissue Therapy of Academy of Medical Sciences in Ukraine," prof. Pasechnikova N.V. and the head of Health Department in Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Schnitzer R.I.
Ukrainian ophthalmologists are convinced that the problem of loss of vision is one of the most topical in the country. Today, in Transcarpathia, as it is noted by local specialists, ophthalmology is at a fairly high level. And in general in Ukraine the number of visually impaired people for the last six years has declined, although the problem of eye diseases has not disappeared. Ophthalmologists call on all people to constantly monitor the health of their eyes, because every 5 seconds one adult is losing sight, and a child – every minute.
