Officials of Uzhgorod District State Administration embezzled over 400,000 UAH – prosecutors

The prosecutors found out that employees of Uzhgorod District State Administration embezzled more than 400,000 UAH of public funds

Uzhgorod Interdistrict Prosecutor’s Office registered in the URPI the information on the grounds of a criminal offense under Part 4 of Art. 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (misappropriation, embezzlement on a large scale, or obtaining of property through abuse of office) against employees of the Department of Education and Nationalities of Uzhgorod District State Administration.

It was found out that during 2010-2012, officials of the District State Administration, abusing their office, committed embezzlement of public funds totaling over 407,000 UAH.

According to the Prosecutor of Uzhgorod district Oleksandr Andryshyn: "During the inspection for compliance with the budget law, it turned out that during 2010-2012, some orders of the Head of the Department for Education and Nationalities of Uzhgorod District State Administration on payment of bonuses from the Fund designed for educators included names of employees who were not in the staff lists of secondary schools and were not engaged in teaching.

Using money from this educational fund, they illegally paid bonuses to accountants, commercial service workers, and some workers were paid bonuses for the time spent on leave, which also led to the excessive use of public funds.
