Last night, police officers of Sobrance district detained 19 Ukrainians who were carrying cigarettes on their backs. They were found near the village of Benatina in ten kilometers from the Ukrainian-Slovak border. The smugglers crossed the border through the mountains, from the village of Dubrynychi in Perechyn district. In forty-one large packages, the men were carrying 8500 cartons of cigarettes.
The estimated value of the seized goods is over 230,000 euros. Now, Ukrainians are at the migration police department in the village of Podhorod, the district of Sobrance. The criminal department of the Financial Services of the Slovak Republic are investigating the crime.
