Tyachiv athlete brought to Transcarpathia bronze medal from an international marathon in Greece

The other day, Tyachiv marathon athlete Andriy Terpyak returned from another competition – the 15th International Ultra-Marathon Festival, which took place on January 10-16 in Athens (Greece).

In the six-day race, the 57-year-old Tyachiv athlete, the first and only representative of Ukraine in this prestigious competition, showed a brilliant result – he finished third and won the bronze cup. In six days, Andriy Terpyak ran the distance of 586 kilometers losing to younger and more experienced athletes from Greece and France. This result brought the Tyachiv athlete to the top fifty ultra-marathon runners.

Six-day running competitions are held in the world 6-7 times a year, – Andriy Terpyak says. – Many sportsmen take part in them, but only the results of 200 km or more are counted.

According to Andriy Terpyak, the key to his success was great willpower and dedication, as well as the support of his family.

Interestingly, the winners unanimously decided to give the ultra-marathon total prize pool of € 60,000 to 27-year-old Greek participant who finished sixth with the result of 322km while limping to the right leg.

The athlete is currently recovering from strenuous competitions and is planning to start preparing for the next trials.
