Last night, border guards of the Chop detachment prevented an attempt of smuggling.
At two o'clock in the morning, a minibus "Citroen" driven by a 24-year-old Transcarpathian arrived at the checkpoint "Tisa". Considering the risk profiles, the border guards together with the customs officers decided to inspect the car in-depth. During the inspection of the vehicle, they found a cache. In a specially made double bottom of the minibus, the man was transporting 425 pairs of men's denim trousers with a total weight of 330 kg. Access to the cache became possible after dismantling of the paneling and plywood sheets, which were fastened with screws to a specially made metal frame. Source.
The minibus Citroen made in 2007 and the smuggled goods were seized. The value of the clothing is currently being established, while the vehicle was estimated at nearly UAH 182,000.
