On the ban on entry of some Hungarian officials into the territory of Ukraine: comment by the Foreign Ministry spokesman

As we reported, on November 24, the Hungarian Government Commissioner for Cooperation between the Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg region of Hungary and Transcarpathian region István Greja was denied entry to Ukraine due to the existing ban.

Decisions to ban entry to citizens of foreign countries are made in accordance with the existing statutory procedure. One of the reasons for this is violation of the legislation of Ukraine by a foreigner.

In the case of Istvan Greja, there were public violations of the Electoral Code of Ukraine, which prohibit foreigners from campaigning for any political forces in Ukraine participating in the election process.

The decision is not related to international relations. The entry ban is related exclusively to the actions of a particular citizen, which contain signs of an offense.

In accordance with the established procedure, the decision to ban entry into Ukraine is announced to a foreigner at a checkpoint on the state border of Ukraine.

Once again, we call on foreign citizens who visit Ukraine, regardless of their positions, to respect the legislation of our state.
