Deputy Ministers of Health of Ukraine Viktor Lyashko and Iryna Mykychak are on a working trip to Transcarpathia.

The officials are primarily interested in how the medical reform is progressing in the region during the fight against the pandemic and how the facilities, where coronavirus patients are treated, function.

To this end, they visited district hospitals in Volovets, Mizhhirya, the psychiatric clinic in Beregovo, St. Martin’s Hospital (former Mukachevo Central District Hospital) in Mukachevo and regional hospitals in Uzhgorod.

Recently, in Transcarpathia, the bed occupancy in the first-wave hospitals, that received patients with coronavirus, heas been quite high. This was primarily due to the fact that the number of tests for COVID-19 has increased.

6 more district hospitals were employed for the treatment of coronavirus patients in Transcarpathian region, the Chief Sanitary Doctor of Ukraine, Deputy Minister of Health of Ukraine said.

Also, the Deputy Ministers of Health, together with the head of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Oleksiy Petrov and his first deputy Oleh Kotsyuba, found out what else needs to be delivered to the medical institutions of the region that treat patients with coronavirus.

The level of funding provided by the National Health Service of Ukraine to institutions depends on the number of crews and available equipment.

In general, they identified the problematic aspects of the functioning of health care institutions in the region, including financial ones, and ways to solve them.
