A 46-year-old resident of Chernivtsi chose to cross the border the customs post "Luzhanka" of the Transcarpathian customs, at three o’clock in the morning, hoping, perhaps, for the inattention of customs officers. During the customs control in the "red corridor" he submitted a declaration with information about a vehicle Mercedes-Benz, model "Sprinter 316 CDI".
But the customs officers decided to carefully check the minibus in the in-depth inspection box. That’s where it was found out that the body number did not match the body number indicated in the certificate of registration of the minibus.
The driver refused to explain anything, but the passenger who was traveling with him told customs officers that the license plates had been removed from a damaged minibus of the same model for a trip to Belgium.
Currently, a report on violation of customs rules under Part 1 of Article 483 of the Customs Code of Ukraine has been drawn up. The twin minibus worth almost 350 thousand hryvnias was confiscated pending court decision, the press service of the Transcarpathian customs reported.
