Transcarpathian thrower has qualified for the Cup of Europe

On February 14-16, Mukachevo hosted the Athletic Throwing Championship of Ukraine. Thus, 295 participants from 22 regions of Ukraine and Moldova were competing in javelin, hammer and discus throwing. 
The competition in hammer throwing was very tough. Among senior participants, Mykhailo Havrylyuk (Ivano-Frankivsk region) was close behind local athlete Serhiy Perevoznikov from Mukachevo. It was the Transcarpathian who won the gold medal at the end with one and a half meters lead (72.68 against 71.30), and thus became eligible to represent Ukraine at the European Cup, which will be held March 21-23 in the Portuguese city of Leiria.
Three more Transcarpathians ranked high in different events. Yuriy Symonenko from Mukachevo threw a 2 kilogram disk at 41 meters and finished the sixth. And in the U-20 javelin competition, Transcarpathian Bohdan Hrab also threw the javelin at 49.44 m and also ranked the sixth. Uzhgorod athlete Artem Hamash finished 16th in the U-16 javelin competition. In the team competitions, the Transcarpathian region ranked 16th among 23 regions and the city of Kyiv. The team from Dnipropetrovsk region won the first place, the athletes from Cherkasy region won the second place, and the athletes from Kyiv region finished the third.
