Roma accuse Zakarpattyaoblenergo of tariff inflating

About two dozen Roma, residents of the village of Kholmok, today came to the office of the Zakarpattyaoblenergo, which is located in Uzhgorod on Bercheni street, the karpat.in.ua reported.

According to the protesters, they demand to check the correctness of the electricity bills, since they believe that tariffs have been significantly inflated in recent months. While last year they paid 300-600 hryvnias, now they received bills for up to 3000.

In addition, meters in the Roma neighbourhoods are mounted very high on poles, so the residents are not able to monitor their power consumption. In such cases, they say, there should be special "remotes" that allow owners to keep track of how much energy they consume. However, none of them has received such devices.

According to the participant of the rally, Stepan Halhach, they talked with a representative of the power company, who promised to check the compliance of the bills with the actual amounts of electricity consumption.
