Fire in Uzhgorod: a woman left grandchildren in a burning house (PHOTOS)

In the evening of February 19, a fire broke out in the room of a one-story house with an attic. The incident happened on Korytnyanska Street in Uzhgorod. The elderly owner of the house went outside, and her two young grandchildren and another relative, who temporarily lives in the house, stayed inside. 
According to the SES of Ukraine Office in Transcarpathian region, when the woman came back inside, she saw that the children had thrown a blanket on a stove and it had caught fire.
"The woman quickly took the kids outside and the man began to extinguish the fire by himself. Only when they realized that they could not deal with the fire on their own, at 19:50, they called the Rescue Service,” – the firefighters inform.
Within minutes, two crews of the 14th State Fire and Rescue Unit arrived at the scene. Already at 19:58, they contained the fire preventing it from spreading outside the room. The fire was completely eliminated at 20:30.
“The fire destroyed household items over the area of ​​10 square meters and also damaged door and window frames and furniture. The cause of the fire and the amount of damage inflicted are being determined,” – the report said.
