Unique footage from the life of Uzhgorod in the 1930s (VIDEO)
Uzhgorod's Teatralna Square in 1930-1939 had a completely different look than it does now. Cars were driving across the pedestrian bridge, and traffic was regulated by traffic controllers.
In less than 20 years (1919–1938), during which Uzhgorod was in fact the capital of Subcarpathian Rus, the city gained the appropriate government infrastructure; water supply and sewerage system; new bridges, roads and sidewalks; industrial, educational, sports and entertainment facilities; orderly riverbed and embankment. The number of apartments and private houses has increased by at least 75%.
